Faqs

  • Yes — if your pregnancy is uncomplicated and you feel comfortable moving, Pilates is safe and appropriate throughout pregnancy. Current evidence and Australian guidelines recommend continuing or modifying regular exercise programs during pregnancy to support physical and mental well-being, provided any activity is adapted to your needs and cleared by your healthcare provider.

  • We recommend you speak with your GP, obstetrician or midwife before starting or continuing exercise in pregnancy. This ensures that any individual medical considerations are understood before participation, particularly if you have specific health conditions or risks.

  • Pilates can help maintain strength, stability and mobility, support posture and pelvic floor muscles, and assist with managing common pregnancy discomforts such as back tension. Regular movement during pregnancy is associated with physical and emotional benefits and supports overall well-being.

  • General physical activity guidelines suggest aiming for around 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week, spread across most days. Pilates can contribute meaningfully to this, alongside other low-impact movement, strength, and mobility work.

  • Many clients continue to enjoy a strong, challenging practice during early pregnancy.

If your pregnancy is uncomplicated and you feel comfortable, Signature classes may be suitable initially, with a transition to Motion as your body changes. Our instructors offer considered options throughout, and we recommend consulting your healthcare provider to guide individual decisions.

  • Yes — please let your instructor know prior to class. This helps us ensure your experience is tailored appropriately, with thoughtful options and support available as your body changes.
